December News!

UPCOMING DATES:
Saturday, December 2nd – Breakfast with Santa at THA lunchroom
Friday, December 8th – Jeans and Christmas or THA t-shirt day for $1.00
Monday, December 11th – Field trip to A&A Tree Farm and the Blue Heron Nature Center.  Permission slips and money are due by Thursday, December 7th.  If you are attending the trip with your child and plan on eating lunch, please pay $6.00 for yourself as well.
Tuesday, December 12th – Pajama and breakfast day.  Students may wear pajamas to school and bring their favorite stuffed animal.  Please send a snack and a drink with your child on this day!
Thursday, December 14th – K-3 and K-4 Christmas party
Friday, December 15th – Christmas program in the gym at 8:30 a.m.  Our class will be the cows and donkeys in this program.  Please wear uniform bottoms and the following shirts (can be THA shirt of that color if necessary).  We will make our headbands in class.

White shirt – Emanuel, Jacey, Sadie
Gray shirt – Reed, Lila, Emercyn, Esteban, Carson
December 13th-15th are half days. Dismissal each day will be 11:15 a.m

Week of 10/16 - 10/20

Friday 10/13 – “Pink out” – Wear pink tops to the football game vs. Dorchester Academy at 7:30 – Senior night before the game at 7:00 p.m.

Image result for haunted trail clipartThis is the first weekend of THA’s Haunted Trail – Come out and support our THA Haunted Trail fundraiser at the Blue Heron Nature Trail!! There will be plenty of fun and excitement (and not scary) opportunities for our little ones with bounce houses, face painting, carnival games, cotton candy, concessions and more!  TOMORROW from 7pm -midnight and Sunday 7-10 pm.  The THA Haunted Trail has a couple of pricing options.  If you wish to experience the trail and stay for the sights, the price is $15.  This includes 8 tickets to the carnival games sponsored by THA.  If you wish to come and enjoy the atmosphere, the cost is $5 and includes 6 tickets for the carnival games.  Extra tickets for the carnival games are available at the event.  Concessions are available at an additional cost.  Independent vendors will have pricing for their services not included in the cost of admissionStop by the concession stand and see me - I will have a surprise for you!    

These next couple of months will be busy with lots of fun projects.   If you did not send in a white pillow case at the beginning of the school year with the school supplies, please do so.  These will be used for Thanksgiving and are not the same ones we use for nap mats. 

Also, please send in an empty baby food jar by Thanksgiving.  We will be making a special dish the week of Thanksgiving.

LEARNING ADVENTURES FOR THE WEEK:
Our theme for the week is Apples.  We will be learning about different apples, how they taste differently, graphing apples and making some fun apple recipes. 

Our letters for the week are “Rr” and “Ss”.  We will discuss objects and names that begin with each letter.  Children learn so much and can read so much at this age already simply from the world around them through sight words.  Help us build our letter collage by sending in word clippings/labels of household items beginning with the letters we have covered so far “A through S”   (ie Applesauce, Burger King, Cheerios, Danimals, Eggos, French’s, etc)  

- Math concept for this week is one-to-one correspondence and learning our birthdays. Please help with memorizing birthdays at home.

Last but not least, thank you all so much for the support and help you provide to me and your children! It makes the year so enjoyable when we are all working together for the benefit of our children!

LEARNING ADVENTURES FOR THE WEEK:
Our theme for the week is Fun with Food.  We will be making and tasting different foods each day.
Monday – Ants on a Log; Tuesday – Pretzel Pops; Wednesday –Pancakes & Sausage; Thursday – Popcorn tasting 
*** Friday – Math pizzas – we will make these for our lunch.  Please send in a snack and drink to go along with the pizza for your child.  ***

Week of 9/25-9/29

TODAY Friday, September 22nd  Last day to get yearbooks for $40.  Prices will go up ($50) after today. They can be ordered through Jostens.com




Tuesday, September 26th – It’s Johnny Appleseed Day!!!!  K-4 students may dress up as Johnny Appleseed or Granny Smith.  Also send in your favorite kind of apple as we will be tasting different types of apples.

Spirit Week is 9/25-9/29 with Homecoming next Friday, September 29th.  Students may wear a THA t-shirt (no cost).  There will be a pep rally at 2:00pm this day so we may be a few minutes late for dismissal.  You are welcome to join us in the gym for the pep rally.

LEARNING ADVENTURES FOR THE WEEK:
Our theme for the week is All in the Family.    We will also continue saying our days of the week, months of the year and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.  Students are working hard to earn their stickers on their folders for saying all three of these!

Our letters for the week are “Ll” and “Mm”.  We will discuss objects and names that begin with each letter.  Children learn so much and can read so much at this age already simply from the world around them through sight words.  Help us build our letter collage by sending in word clippings/labels of household items beginning with the letters we have covered so far “A through M”   (ie Applesauce, Burger King, Cheerios, Danimals, Eggos, French’s, etc)  We will start doing this each week with the letters of the week. I can’t wait to see how many different words the children will find! Thank you!

- Math concept for this week is Big, Middle, Little.  We will work with our bears and sort and graph them by sizes.

Week of 9/5-9/8

Hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

First turn in day for cookie dough sales – September 7th – PLEASE SELL, SELL, SELL – Each student is asked to try and sell at least 7!

GIRLS - Mini cheer practices will be this Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:10-3:00.  Pep rally performance/half time performance on Friday, September 8th.

Lil’ Rebels run out with football plays before the game on Friday, September 8th.  Those students not participating in the above mentioned events may wear a Hawaiian shirt with their uniform bottoms.

Progress reports will go home on Thursday, September 14th.

LEARNING ADVENTURES FOR THE WEEK:
Our theme for the week is Colors and Shapes.   We will explore different colors in our world and the different shapes we see everywhere!.  We will also continue saying our days of the week and months of the year.  Students are working hard to earn their stickers on their folders for saying the days and months!

-Our letters for the week are “Gg” and “Hh” and numbers 7 and 8.  We will discuss objects and names that begin with each letter.  Children learn so much and can read so much at this age already simply from the world around them through sight words.  Help us build our letter collage by sending in word clippings/labels of household items beginning with the letters we have covered so far “A through H”   (ie Applesauce, Burger King, Cheerios, Danimals, Eggos, French’s, etc)  We will start doing this each week with the letters of the week. I can’t wait to see how many different words the children will find! Thank you!

- One-to-one correspondence is the math concept of the week. We are also exploring AB patterns (alternating back and forth between two colors, ie red/green/red/green/red/green).
REMINDERS:

If you have not already done so, please send in a 4x6 family photo as soon as possible for our bulletin board.                                                             


Pillowcases and blankets are sent home on Friday to be washed and returned each Monday.  Please make sure pillowcases are being sent back as well.  This is very important as they are used to encase the nap mats and protect them from others germs (DSS guidelines).

Our theme for the week is Body Parts and The Five Senses.   We will explore different textures, sounds, smells and tastes.  We will also practice saying our days of the week and months of the year.

-Our letters for the week are “Ee” and “Ff” and numbers 5 and 6.  We will discuss objects and names that begin with each letter.  Children learn so much and can read so much at this age already simply from the world around them through sight words.  Help us build our letter collage by sending in word clippings/labels of household items beginning with the letters we have covered so far “A through F”   (ie Applesauce, Burger King, Cheerios, Danimals, Eggos, French’s, etc)  We will start doing this each week with the letters of the week. It's Back to School/Getting to Know You Week 8/14-8/18/18

We had a fabulous first day on Friday!  I am so excited to begin exploring the great outdoors and more with this class!  It's going to be a great year!

This week we will be learning about our new friends in our class and discussing proper classroom behaviors, routines and procedures.  Please return the "All About Me" page no later than Wednesday 8/16.

We will begin letter and number awareness  with introduction to letters Aa and Bb and numbers 1 and 2.  We will discuss objects and names that begin with each letter.  We will begin  introducing/reviewing  colors and shapes.

Our math concept for the week is One-to-one correspondence. We are also exploring AB patterns.


We will always incorporate important character traits into our learning as well. We will work on sharing and taking turns this week.

K4 Explores the Great Outdoors 2017-18

Welcome to K4!
It's going to be a great year in our Kindergarten Wing!  We are going to have a fun-filled year of exploring, learning and growing in K4.
I look forward to meeting each of you and your families at the Back to School Bash, and I can't wait to see all of their bright little faces on next Friday morning.
