First Week of Fun!

Whew! We have had a wonderful first week of school! We have learned so much about our school, our new friends and are really adjusting quite well to our new surroundings!

Just a few notes from our parent night that I would like to share.
School begins at 8:00 a.m. - if the child is not in the classroom when the 8:05 tardy bell rings, he/she will be counted tardy for the day.
Starting next week we will be working on individual independence - this means parents can drop off in carline (there will always be a teacher on the sidewalk to assist with this) or you escort your child up to the double doors into our building and allow the child to come on in by themselves into the classroom.  This process helps establish consistency in our routines and allows the children an opportunity to settle in and get ready to begin our day.

There are plenty of opportunities for parent involvement!
 - We will be needing chaperones/drivers for field trips this year.  If you would like to drive, check with Ms. Tammy in the front office for requirements.  I know you will need to submit a driving record to the front office and and fill out additional information regarding insurance.
- We will have parties and events throughout the year and will ask for your help in providing supplies or food or help with decorating.
- There will be a class donation for the fall silent auction (this can be a basket of goodies or a large single item).  We will also have a class donation for the Spring Gala.  If you have an idea for a basket or have a business that may be willing to donate services or items, please let me know.
- Wrapping Paper Sales Fundraiser will begin soon! SELL SELL SELL!!
- Several ladies signed up to co-chair Room Mom (THANK YOU THANK YOU)- they will be contacting you as needed

Monday, August 22: PICTURE DAY!!!  Dress: Uniforms

Thursday, August 25: PTO sales begin: Children will bring home a booklet of items, magazine subscriptions, holiday gifts, jewelry, etc.), to sell as a fund raiser for the school. We encourage all children to sell at least $50. worth of products. More information about the fund raiser will come home with your child.

Coming up next week:

Wednesday, August 31: Breakfast with Bears!!
Wear pajamas to school (so much fun) and bring a Teddy Bear!  We will send a note home asking parents to please send in an item to help with this special day. If you do NOT receive a note, please don't feel left out. You will have a lot of other opportunities to help throughout the year.

This week we will be talking about "Me and My World".  Please send in a 4x6 family picture by Monday. These will be posted on our monkey board "Come Hang with Us".
Also please send in a baby picture by Wednesday.

Thanks again for a great start to the new year!

Week of August 15-19

We had a fabulous first full day today!  Everyone is adjusting so well to our new friends and new routine!!

We will spend this week getting acquainted with each other and getting into our daily routine.

Tuesday is our Parent meeting at 7:00 in the classroom. Please make arrangements for your child/children to spend this time with Grandparents or a friend outside of school. This will give us the opportunity to talk about our curriculum, Kindergarten expectations/ learning experiences and for me to answer any questions that you may have.

Reminders:
Please print out pages 22, 23,and 24 from the Student  Handbook that is on the Thomas Heyward web site. Those pages should be filled out and turned in by Tuesday of this week.

Check you child's folder daily. This is our way of communicating on a daily basis. Also, be on the lookout for an invite to our closed Facebrook group where we will share upcoming events and important information.

I am looking forward to seeing you all Tuesday night!!

It's going to be a great year in our Kindergarten Wing!  We are going to have a fun-filled year of learning and growing in K4.
I look forward to meeting each of you and your families at the Back to School Bash tomorrow night, and I can't wait to see all of their bright little faces on Friday morning.
Check back here regularly for updates and also be on the lookout for an invite to our group Facebook page!
And thank you, in advance, for sharing them with me and allowing me the opportunity to get to know your little ones and love them like my own!  I can't wait to see what this year holds for us all!
