Week of December 5-9, 2016

We only have 6 more full days and 3 half days until Christmas break!
This week we are continuing with Number sense and learning about the Twelve Days of Christmas.
A good number of our K4 friends have learned their phone numbers.  Continue working with your child at home singing the number to the tune of "Frere Jacques".  As we assess for second quarter, we want to see as many stickers on their folders as possible.  Practicing days, months, ABCs, phone number, birthday and seasons will continue to reinforce these at home.

A note about our Christmas Cookie Exchange on Thursday 12/15 went home today.  This will be in lieu of a gift exchange and will allow a fabulous memory making opportunity for you and your child to bake some Christmas cookies.

Half days with 11:15 dismissal are Wednesday 12/14, Thursday 12/15 and Friday 12/16.

Christmas Program is Friday 12/16 at 8:30 a.m in the gym.  Please dress children in their Christmas best and have them in our classroom by 8:00.

Week of November 7-11, 2016

First off, thank you all for the kind words, cards and expressions of sympathy in the sudden loss of my mom last Sunday.  I have missed our little ones this week and am looking forward to all of those sweet hugs tomorrow!

Join us for the Veteran's Day Program tomorrow (Monday 11/7) night in the gym at 7pm.

This week's theme is Native Americans!  This is an exciting time in Kinderwing as we prepare for our annual Thanksgiving Feast and show off our Native American costumes.  We will be working on decorating our pillowcases (indian dress) this week and will be picking our indian names.  This is done through a random drawing of adjectives and nouns and I always love to see what combination of names they draw.

We are continuing to practice memorizing our phone numbers and birthdays, as well as days of the week, months of the year and the pledge of allegiance.  Practicing these at home or in the car is always helpful.

First Week of Fun!

Whew! We have had a wonderful first week of school! We have learned so much about our school, our new friends and are really adjusting quite well to our new surroundings!

Just a few notes from our parent night that I would like to share.
School begins at 8:00 a.m. - if the child is not in the classroom when the 8:05 tardy bell rings, he/she will be counted tardy for the day.
Starting next week we will be working on individual independence - this means parents can drop off in carline (there will always be a teacher on the sidewalk to assist with this) or you escort your child up to the double doors into our building and allow the child to come on in by themselves into the classroom.  This process helps establish consistency in our routines and allows the children an opportunity to settle in and get ready to begin our day.

There are plenty of opportunities for parent involvement!
 - We will be needing chaperones/drivers for field trips this year.  If you would like to drive, check with Ms. Tammy in the front office for requirements.  I know you will need to submit a driving record to the front office and and fill out additional information regarding insurance.
- We will have parties and events throughout the year and will ask for your help in providing supplies or food or help with decorating.
- There will be a class donation for the fall silent auction (this can be a basket of goodies or a large single item).  We will also have a class donation for the Spring Gala.  If you have an idea for a basket or have a business that may be willing to donate services or items, please let me know.
- Wrapping Paper Sales Fundraiser will begin soon! SELL SELL SELL!!
- Several ladies signed up to co-chair Room Mom (THANK YOU THANK YOU)- they will be contacting you as needed

Monday, August 22: PICTURE DAY!!!  Dress: Uniforms

Thursday, August 25: PTO sales begin: Children will bring home a booklet of items, magazine subscriptions, holiday gifts, jewelry, etc.), to sell as a fund raiser for the school. We encourage all children to sell at least $50. worth of products. More information about the fund raiser will come home with your child.

Coming up next week:

Wednesday, August 31: Breakfast with Bears!!
Wear pajamas to school (so much fun) and bring a Teddy Bear!  We will send a note home asking parents to please send in an item to help with this special day. If you do NOT receive a note, please don't feel left out. You will have a lot of other opportunities to help throughout the year.

This week we will be talking about "Me and My World".  Please send in a 4x6 family picture by Monday. These will be posted on our monkey board "Come Hang with Us".
Also please send in a baby picture by Wednesday.

Thanks again for a great start to the new year!
