Please continue working with handwriting at home.  We are writing our first names and upper and lower case letters.  Remember "where do we start our letters?" - AT THE TOP! and we work from left to right and from top down to the bottom of the paper.  

Practice counting to 100 and begin memorizing your address.

Next week we will be celebrating the 100th Day of school.  Please send in 100 pennies with your child on Monday.  We will count them and then donate the money to JARM.  

Reminder that re-enrollment forms are due on Monday!!

Open House will be Tuesday, February 6th at 6pm.  Please come out and meet your child's teacher for next year.  We would also love for you to bring a friend!!

Grandparent's Day has been rescheduled for Friday, February 9th.

The book fair will be open next week.  It will be open before and after school.

Candy grams are on sale now.  They are $1.00 and will be delivered on Valentine's Day.  You may send a note in your child's folder stating who they are for and who they are from!

Pet Week!! 1/29-2/2

UPCOMING DATES:

**  Friday, February 2 – Grandparents Day – Grandparents go the gym between 12-12:30.  Program will follow at 12:30 and then children will take grandparents on a tour of the school and visit the book fair.  I will have a book “wish list” available for you/grandparents to utilize to expedite this process. Children are then to come back to our classroom to give their gifts to their grandparents.  IF you do not have a grandparent available for that day, please let me know and I can arrange for a high school student to stand in for them.   

** Tuesday, February 6^th – THA Open House night @ 6pm – Please join us and bring a friend – all those who attend get free admission to the varsity basketball games.

Wednesday, February 14 – Valentine’s Day – We will exchange valentines and have a small class party at the end of the day.  Cupcakes and drinks will be provided.  Attached is a list of student names.

Our class representatives for Valentine’s King and Queen are Lila and Reed.  They have jars in our classroom for any monetary donations you would like to send in support.  Coins are great!  This is a fundraiser for PTO with the winners with most money collected being announced at the program on Grandparents Day.

Save the Date:  The Kinderwing will have a Manner’s Banquet on Thursday, February 15^th.  Parents are invited to attend.  More information coming soon.

LEARNING ADVENTURES FOR THE WEEK:

Our theme for the week is Pet Week.  If you would like to bring in your family pet for show-n-tell for a few minutes, please let me know.  Dates and times available for pets are Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday 8:00-8:-15 or 2:00-2:15.  Please send me a text and let me know if you will be doing this so I can plan accordingly. Monday, December 11^th – Field trip to A&A Tree Farm and the Blue Heron Nature Center.  Permission slips and money are due by Thursday, December 7^th.  If you are attending the trip with your child and plan on eating lunch, please pay $6.00 for yourself as well.

Tuesday, December 12^th – Pajama and breakfast day.  Students may wear pajamas to school and bring their favorite stuffed animal.  Please send a snack and a drink with your child on this day!

Thursday, December 14^th – K-3 and K-4 Christmas party

Friday, December 15^th – Christmas program in the gym at 8:30 a.m.  Our class will be the cows and donkeys in this program.  Please wear uniform bottoms and the following shirts (can be THA shirt of that color if necessary).  We will make our headbands in class.

Week of 10/16 - 10/20

Friday 10/13 – “Pink out” – Wear pink tops to the football game vs. Dorchester Academy at 7:30 – Senior night before the game at 7:00 p.m.

This is the first weekend of THA’s Haunted Trail – Come out and support our THA Haunted Trail fundraiser at the Blue Heron Nature Trail!! There will be plenty of fun and excitement (and not scary) opportunities for our little ones with bounce houses, face painting, carnival games, cotton candy, concessions and more!  TOMORROW from 7pm -midnight and Sunday 7-10 pm.  The THA Haunted Trail has a couple of pricing options.  If you wish to experience the trail and stay for the sights, the price is $15.  This includes 8 tickets to the carnival games sponsored by THA.  If you wish to come and enjoy the atmosphere, the cost is $5 and includes 6 tickets for the carnival games.  Extra tickets for the carnival games are available at the event.  Concessions are available at an additional cost.  Independent vendors will have pricing for their services not included in the cost of admission.  Stop by the concession stand and see me - I will have a surprise for you!    

These next couple of months will be busy with lots of fun projects.   If you did not send in a white pillow case at the beginning of the school year with the school supplies, please do so.  These will be used for Thanksgiving and are not the same ones we use for nap mats. 

Also, please send in an empty baby food jar by Thanksgiving.  We will be making a special dish the week of Thanksgiving.

LEARNING ADVENTURES FOR THE WEEK:

Our theme for the week is Apples.  We will be learning about different apples, how they taste differently, graphing apples and making some fun apple recipes. 

Our letters for the week are “Rr” and “Ss”.  We will discuss objects and names that begin with each letter.  Children learn so much and can read so much at this age already simply from the world around them through sight words.  Help us build our letter collage by sending in word clippings/labels of household items beginning with the letters we have covered so far “A through S”   (ie Applesauce, Burger King, Cheerios, Danimals, Eggos, French’s, etc)  

- Math concept for this week is one-to-one correspondence and learning our birthdays. Please help with memorizing birthdays at home.

Last but not least, thank you all so much for the support and help you provide to me and your children! It makes the year so enjoyable when we are all working together for the benefit of our children!

Tuesday, September 26^th – It’s Johnny Appleseed Day!!!!  K-4 students may dress up as Johnny Appleseed or Granny Smith.  Also send in your favorite kind of apple as we will be tasting different types of apples.

Spirit Week is 9/25-9/29 with Homecoming next Friday, September 29^th.  Students may wear a THA t-shirt (no cost).  There will be a pep rally at 2:00pm this day so we may be a few minutes late for dismissal.  You are welcome to join us in the gym for the pep rally.

Our letters for the week are “Ll” and “Mm”.  We will discuss objects and names that begin with each letter.  Children learn so much and can read so much at this age already simply from the world around them through sight words.  Help us build our letter collage by sending in word clippings/labels of household items beginning with the letters we have covered so far “A through M”   (ie Applesauce, Burger King, Cheerios, Danimals, Eggos, French’s, etc)  We will start doing this each week with the letters of the week. I can’t wait to see how many different words the children will find! Thank you!
